After Jesus' interaction with the Rich Young Ruler, Peter feels the need to enter the conversation. Unlike the ruler, they have given up much to follow Jesus and Jesus encourages them that their reward will be well worth it when all is said and done. Still, Jesus', and to a lesser extent the Disciples, have a great test ahead of them. The crucifixion. Try and pretend like you never knew that Jesus was crucified, this is where the Disciples were. Even though Jesus was telling them this humiliatingly painful torture was going to happen to Him, they couldn't believe it. This man walked on water, this man healed people at will, He fed 5000 men + women and children at one time. How could something so painful and destructive happen to Him?
Jesus keeps getting closer to Jerusalem and keeps loving people in need along the way, this time a blind beggar. People gave praise to God. Jesus drew closer to His suffering for sin. Do you believe it? That something so great could be done for you? That someone loved you enough to save you and help you in your greatest need? Jesus was heading toward Jerusalem not to set up an earthly reign but one that would even be over sin and death. Even your sin and your death. Praise be to God! Thank you Jesus, for not getting lost.
