Who said you were allowed to do a miracle?

As Jesus continues toward Jerusalem he observes the Sabbath at a Synagogue and heals a woman who had been oppressed for a long time. He didn’t do this by the rules that the religious people wanted him to however. It wasn’t good enough for them that a woman was set free from an illness. The could not rejoice in God’s goodness and grace in her life that was given in this miraculous way. They were too worried about how and when Jesus did it and didn’t really seem to care that their sister was delivered in this great way.

How often do we put unnecessary roadblock up for people who want to follow Jesus? What kind of unnecessary hurtles do we put along the path? Do we get upset when we see someone from a different church or denomination leading people to Christ in a way that we would see as unconventional? With the Bible solely as our guide we should welcome any and all methods that God might want to use through us or through other people. We should never be jealous that Jesus does good with the Gospel through someone else and not us.  Our preferences should never get in the way of the Gospel, whether it’s the way we do church or the culture we develop, we should be willing to lay it all aside to follow Jesus as He leads, after all, Jesus doesn’t get lost.
